On November 2, a session titled “Transgender Mental Health and Gender-Affirming Healthcare in Korea” was held at the Korean Association for Sexology Fall Conference.
During this session, Director Jongmyung Kim of Seoul ON Mental Health Clinic, who is also active in the Korean Society for LGBTQ+ Medicine, gave a presentation titled “Assessment of Gender Incongruence and Mental Health Management,” which included the results of the KITE study. Drawing on clinical experience and research data, it was an opportunity to discuss the importance of transgender mental healthcare and practical approaches to it.
Professor Kyul Hee Kim of the LGBTQ+ Center then presented “Current Updates in Transgender Gender-Affirming Healthcare,” reviewing the current state and future direction of gender-affirming healthcare on the basis of domestic and international guidelines and recent trends.
We are deeply grateful for this growing movement in academic settings to discuss and expand the health and self-determination of sexual minorities, particularly transgender people, through professional discourse.
The Center will continue to serve as a place of connection linking research, clinical care, and the community.
